Keisei Rose Garden is one of the Kanto region’s most beloved floral attractions. With more than 1,600 rose varieties and over 10,000 individual rose plants, the garden offers a rich combination of color, fragrance, and carefully designed landscapes that appeal to both casual visitors and dedicated horticulture enthusiasts.
Founded in 1959, Keisei Rose Garden has played a significant role in the development of rose cultivation in Japan. Over the decades, it has introduced numerous rose varieties both domestically and internationally, earning awards at global rose competitions and contributing to Japan’s vibrant rose culture. In 1999, the site expanded into a full rose-themed complex, adding a rose shop, restaurant, garden center, and event spaces. A stone-oven bakery, introduced in 2010, further enhanced the visitor experience.
Seasonal Beauty and Themed Garden Areas
The garden is designed to be enjoyed throughout the year, with peak rose blooms occurring from late April to June in spring and again from early October to late November in autumn. During these seasons, roses of various shapes, sizes, and fragrances fill the grounds, creating an immersive floral landscape.
Roses are arranged in themed sections that offer diverse scenery and perspectives, including: Royal Rose Corner, featuring roses with regal and historical associations; “The Rose of Versailles” Terrace, a scenic viewpoint overlooking expansive garden vistas; Cottage Garden and Greenhouse areas, combining roses with seasonal flowers in English garden-style settings.
Other highlights include nature-friendly rose areas that emphasize low-pesticide cultivation, nostalgic garden corners, and photogenic features such as pergolas and archways. Beyond roses, the garden showcases seasonal plantings such as hydrangeas, water lilies, and other flowering plants around a central pond, ensuring visual interest throughout the year.
