teamLab: Yoro Keikoku
チームラボ 養老渓谷Yoro Keikoku is a valley formed over vast stretches of geological time by the Yoro River carving continuously into the earth. The valley's ancient forest, the river gorge, and the exposed rock faces of its geological strata all carry deep time within them. Among its notable features is the Kurotaki Unconformity — a geomagnetic reversal stratum recognised as one of Japan's 100 Geological Wonders, which preserves what is considered the world's clearest evidence of the reversal of Earth's magnetic poles during the Chibanian age.
The exhibition is based on teamLab's ongoing "Digitized Nature" project, which explores the idea of nature becoming art while remaining nature. Artworks respond to the presence of visitors, transforming the valley into an art space that changes with the people moving through it. The project seeks to reconnect visitors with the existence of deep time and its continuity with the present.
