Located in Oita Prefecture, Hita City serves as the hometown of Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama and has become the setting for a large-scale regional revitalisation initiative known as “Attack on Titan in Hita”. The project combines tourism, art, and digital experiences to celebrate the world-famous manga and anime while promoting the city’s local culture.
Museums and Exhibitions
Two dedicated museums operate in Hita City: the Attack on Titan in Hita Museum and the Attack on Titan in Hita Museum ANNEX.
The Attack on Titan in Hita Museum, located in Ōyama-machi, exhibits valuable original drawings, early sketches from Isayama’s youth, and large-scale statues depicting iconic scenes. The museum also displays the actual desk used by Isayama during the manga’s creation and includes commentary written by the author himself.
The Museum ANNEX, situated within the Sapporo Beer Kyushu Hita Brewery grounds, expands the experience with a large “Immersive Comic” installation that allows visitors to step into the story visually. The ANNEX features personal memorabilia, digital art pieces, and a collection of limited-edition goods exclusive to Hita.
Both museums offer multilingual support and a special combination ticket for discounted entry.

Stamp Rally and App Coupons
The app also hosts the Attack on Titan in Hita Stamp Rally, encouraging exploration of designated locations around the city. Participants collect digital stamps by scanning QR codes at specific sites and can earn random digital rewards through the “Treasure Box Challenge.”
In addition, digital coupons distributed through the app provide discounts and free gifts at participating shops and facilities throughout Hita.
Bronze Statues and Commemorative Sites
Hita City features several permanent monuments inspired by Attack on Titan:
At Ōyama Dam, statues of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin as children stand before a massive wall representing Wall Maria. The installation, funded through crowdfunding for the series’ 10th anniversary, marks the symbolic “beginning place” of the story.
At Hita Station South Plaza, a bronze statue of Captain Levi welcomes visitors. This monument was also funded through fan contributions as the second phase of the project.
In Taraibaru Beautiful Forest Park, a commemorative tree-planting ceremony was held in November 2023, attended by Isayama and voice actor Yūki Kaji. A metasequoia tree — chosen for its longevity — was planted to symbolise growth and connection between the story and the region
Themed Locations and Collaborations
The Attack on Titan Café, located near Hita Station, offers themed drinks and desserts in collaboration with the franchise. Exclusive merchandise, photo spots, and character-themed sleeves accompany menu items.
At Forest Adventure Oku-Hita, visitors can experience an outdoor obstacle course resembling the “Forest of Giant Trees”, with zipline routes that simulate 3D Maneuver Gear movement.
Life-sized character panels of Eren, Levi, and Mikasa are on display at regional locations including Michi-no-Eki Mizube no Sato Ōyama and Takamura, where visitors can also purchase related merchandise.

Regional Collaboration and Limited Goods
Numerous local businesses in Hita have joined the collaboration, offering exclusive Attack on Titan-themed products, including accessories, tableware, snacks, sweets, fashion, and cosmetics. Some restaurants serve dishes inspired by characters or motifs from the series.
Travellers arriving in Hita by JR can receive shopping vouchers for use at participating stores in the city, encouraging further exploration of the area.
