The Kakunodate Castle Ruins is a former castle located in the city of Kakunodate, Akita prefecture, Japan. The castle was built in the early 17th century and served as the stronghold of the Ashina clan, a powerful daimyo family in the region. The castle was destroyed in the Meiji period, but the castle's stone walls and moats remain, and the site is now open to the public as a park.
