Shiro EXPO is Japan's largest annual castle festival, celebrating castle culture through specialist talks, regional performances, and booths representing castles nationwide.
Shiro EXPO is an annual castle culture event held every December since 2016. Its stated aims are to promote castle culture, support its development, and bring together enthusiasts, specialists, and castle representatives from across Japan. The event is billed as Japan's largest castle festival.
The 2025 edition marked the 10th anniversary of the event. A record 137 organisations participated, and attendance over the two days reached its highest level to date. Programming included stage performances by local mascot characters and samurai groups, alongside lectures and workshops led by castle specialists.
Shiro EXPO 2026 is scheduled to continue the format, with castle booths from around the country, lectures and talk shows by specialists, and additional stage programming.
