The Tsuma Shrine is dedicated to the main deity Konohanasakuya-hime. One theory suggests that the name "Tsuma" may be interpreted as "wife," referring to Konohanasakuya-hime's role as the spouse of Ninigi no Mikoto, who is the grandson of Amaterasu and ancestor of the first emperor, Emperor Jimmu.
