KANPAI! GUNMA, one of the largest tasting events in Northern Kanto, will take place over two days on October 3 and 4 at G Messe Gunma in Takasaki City. The festival brings together a wide variety of sake, including Gunma’s finest local brews, alongside gourmet dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. In addition to Gunma sake, beverages from other regions will be available. Breweries from neighbouring prefectures will also participate.

The event includes popular restaurants serving Gunma specialties, booths where visitors can explore different ways to enjoy sake, and seminars for those interested in deepening their appreciation of Japanese sake.

The festival appeals to both seasoned sake enthusiasts and those experiencing Japanese sake for the first time, combining local flavours, culture, and tradition in one event.

Event Highlights

Taste a Wide Variety of Gunma’s Local Sake

Gunma’s sake, nurtured by rich nature, pure water, and skilled craftsmanship, is featured at numerous tasting booths (tasting requires a ticket). In addition to sake, craft beer, wine, cider, and gin are available. Breweries from Ibaraki, Tochigi, Saitama, Niigata, and Nagano also participate, bringing the total number of alcohol booths to over 30.

Gourmet Booths Featuring Local Ingredients

Around 20 booths will offer carefully prepared dishes made with Gunma’s renowned ingredients, each designed to pair perfectly with sake.

Special Booths to Make Sake More Approachable

The event is designed so that even those who haven’t tried much sake can enjoy it. Visitors can sample various types of local sake and discover their favourites at interactive booths. There are also opportunities to try the recently popular “Sake High” (sake mixed with soda).

Special Seminars to Enhance Your Enjoyment of Sake

Seminars offer a closer look at the charms of sake, welcoming both beginners and enthusiasts to participate freely.
