Urban Sports Fes in Kasama 2026
アーバンスポーツフェス IN 笠間 2026
Skateboarding, BMX and breaking brought together for the first time at Kasama in Ibaraki, in a town that has built itself around urban sports.

Three competitions in three sports – skateboarding, BMX and breaking – are held over one weekend at Kasama. Each has been run in the town for several years on its own; 2026 is the first year they are put together as one festival.
The skateboarding is the fifth Ibaraki Governor's Cup, held at Murasaki Park Kasama on the Saturday, with classes from beginner upward. The BMX competition follows at the same park on the Sunday, in three classes by ability.
The breaking is held the same day at the open-air concert ground in Kasama Geijutsu no Mori Park. It is the fourth of its kind here, and runs as solo battles for under-fifteens, three-on-three battles in any style, and crews entered by prefecture against one another.

Kasama promotes itself as a sports city, and skateboarding, BMX and breaking are one of the main planks of that policy. Murasaki Park Kasama is one of the largest skate parks in the country and is used by members of the Japanese Olympic team as well as by beginners. The town set up a sports commission of its own in 2022 to build on that, and the stated aim of putting the three contests together is that people should think of Kasama when they think of these sports.
Food is sold from kitchen cars over the weekend, and there is an evening programme with guests talking and riders and dancers giving displays rather than competing.
