
Yoshino Baigo Plum Blossom Festival
吉野梅郷梅祭りThis year marks the 10th anniversary of the replanting of plum trees in the area, making it a significant milestone in the festival’s history. Visitors are invited to enjoy the vibrant plum blossoms along with a wide range of events and activities.
Every year, from late February to March 31, the Yoshino Baigo area is adorned with a total of 25,000 red and white plum trees, filling the air with a gentle fragrance. During this period, over 300,000 visitors from across Japan come to see the blooms, drawn to the town, which is widely regarded as the best plum village in the Kanto region.

Feb 14–20 - Pre-Opening Activities: Special pre-opening events include a mystery escape game, “Rescue Grandpa Umezaka”, allowing visitors to engage in interactive fun before the official festival begins.
Feb 14–Mar 31 - Photo Contest: During the festival, participants can submit photographs capturing the scenic views of Yoshino Baigo and events held in the area.
Feb 14–Mar 22 - Stamp Rally: Visitors can collect stamps from participating local shops and receive prizes through the Yoshino Baigo Shopping Association Stamp Rally.
Feb 21–23 - Ome Gourmet Market: The market features a selection of local delicacies from Ome-area restaurants, allowing festival-goers to sample a variety of traditional flavours.
Feb 27–Mar 1 - Tokyo Local Sake Festival: Hosted by the NPO Ome Yoshino Baigo Ume no Sato Mirai Project, this event offers visitors the opportunity to taste a range of premium sake from Tokyo.
Mar 1 and 15 - Yoshino Baigo Shopping Association Lottery: Visitors who meet participation conditions can join a lottery for a chance to win luxury prizes.
Mar 6–8 - Yoshino Baigo Plum Wine Festival: This event showcases plum wines from famous plum-growing regions across Japan, offering tasting opportunities in the park.
Mar 8 - Citizen Plum Viewing Festival: Featuring police and fire parades, traditional music, and local performances, this festival brings the community together in celebration of the plum blossoms.
Mar 14 - Guided Tour: Ichinotaki Waterfall and Historical Yoshino Village (Reservation Required). Participants can enjoy a guided walk through Yoshino Baigo, visiting literary sites linked to Eiji Yoshikawa, local landmarks, and seasonal foods. The tour includes lunch, snacks, admission fees, and insurance for 4,000 yen per person.
Mar 14–15 - Yoshino Baigo Sweets Festa: Local confectioneries offer a variety of sweets, allowing visitors to enjoy plum viewing while sampling regional desserts.
Mar 15 - Street Performances and Traditional Arts: Visitors can enjoy performances such as street acrobatics and Nankin Tamasudare (traditional Japanese street performance) while strolling through the plum park.
