Yukitouro (Snow Candle Way)
定山渓温泉雪灯路(ゆきとうろ)Yukitouro is a snow candle event held at the Jozankei Shrine. Candles in lanterns made of snow decorate the ground around the shrine and turn the surface into a lightning carpet. After 15 years, the Yukitouro Snow Candle Path - a cherished winter tradition in Jozankei - will hold its final edition in its current form.
Each year, around 1,000 handmade snow candles illuminate the snowy valley, creating a serene and magical atmosphere that can only be experienced in the clear, crisp air of a Hokkaido winter. The event also features the “Forest of Prayers”, where digital art and natural scenery blend together, evoking the world of Jozankei Nature Luminarie. Visitors can enjoy both the gentle glow of snow candles and the mystical digital illumination inspired by nature.
