In 1982, a facility for collecting, preserving, and displaying materials related to the history and folklore of the Wakasa region was established as part of a commemorative project for the 100th anniversary of the Prefecture, and a permanent exhibition was displayed. This exhibition was renewed in April 1994 and again in July 2014, after which it officially received the status of a museum and was named "Fukui Prefectural Wakasa History Museum".
