Hirakiyama Park
開山公園
A hilltop park on Hakatajima planted with about a thousand cherry trees, looking out over three of the bridges of the Inland Sea.

Hirakiyama Park covers a hill on Hakatajima, one of the islands of the Inland Sea in Imabari. It is planted with about a thousand cherry trees, and from the lookout at the top three of the bridges that carry the road between Honshu and Shikoku can be seen at once: the Hakata-Oshima bridge, the Omishima bridge and the Tatara bridge.
The cherries are what the park is known for. While they are out, paper lanterns are hung for viewing them after dark, and stalls sell oden. Azaleas follow, and the hill is planted so that there is something in each season.
The park has a playground, including a slide 36 metres long and a climbing frame.
