Ogimachi Sakura Festival

Located in Kita-ku with easy access from the Umeda area, Ogimachi Park is one of Osaka's most established hanami destinations, and this year's program has been designed to offer a fuller experience than a typical flower-viewing outing.

Night Cherry Blossom Illumination

After dark, the park's cherry trees will be lit with soft lighting, creating an atmosphere distinctly different from the daytime scenery. The illumination is available to all visitors at no charge and is intended to make the park accessible to a wider audience beyond the traditional daytime hanami crowd.

Cherry-Pink Sky Lanterns

The festival's headline experience is a cherry-pink sky lantern release held after nightfall. The lanterns use LED lighting rather than open flames, making the activity suitable for all ages including young children. Participants hold their lanterns aloft on strings fitted with weights, so that the lights rise and hover rather than flying freely — a design chosen with both safety and environmental considerations in mind. Lantern redemption tickets are priced at ¥4,400 per person.

Traditional Instrument and Street Art Performances

Live performances featuring traditional Japanese instruments and street art acts will take place on a dedicated stage throughout the event. The program is designed to blend traditional Japanese performing arts with contemporary entertainment. Performances can be watched from general areas of the park, or from one of two ticketed seating options inside the venue.

Beer Garden Area

A beer garden area offers garden chair seating with 90 minutes of all-you-can-drink included, priced at ¥2,000 per person. The area provides a view of the stage performances and permits guests to bring their own food. It is intended as a casual option for those who want to enjoy the festival atmosphere alongside drinks and live entertainment.

Tatami Seating with Sake Tasting

For a more traditional setting, the festival offers vermilion-style tatami seating at ¥5,000 per person. This ticket includes a curated sake tasting experience and provides the closest available view of the stage. The seating area is designed to reflect a classical Japanese aesthetic, pairing the cherry blossom surroundings with a structured introduction to Japanese sake.

Sake and Tea Tasting Bar

A separate tasting bar will operate on-site, offering guests the opportunity to sample and compare Japanese sake and Japanese tea at their own pace. The bar is positioned as a quieter, more contemplative activity, suited to visitors who want to engage with Japanese drink culture in a relaxed setting beneath the night blossoms.

Food and Festival Stalls

A gourmet area with a variety of food trucks will be set up across the venue, alongside traditional festival stalls of the kind commonly found at Japanese outdoor events.
