Shibamasa World is a 560,000-square-meter entertainment complex on the Sea of Japan coast in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture. The park combines three main areas: a summer water park, year-round attractions, and camping facilities, all set against ocean views and expansive lawns.
Water Park
Japan's largest resort pool complex operates from late June through September with approximately 50 water slides and multiple pool types.
Major Attractions:
Caribbean Beach is a wave pool that simulates ocean conditions with views of the actual Sea of Japan. The Monster Slider carries six riders at once, while Triple Saurus features world-class tube slides with massive inflatable rings.
Flowing river pools come in two depths (100 cm and 80 cm) for leisurely floating. Children's pools range from 30 to 60 cm deep and include elephant-shaped slides for safe water play.
Special Features:
The indoor Amazon pool operates year-round with climate control and jungle theming. The Starlight Pool program (mid-July to end of August) extends hours into the evening with illuminated pools for night swimming under the stars.
Attractions
Rides and Activities:
The theme park section features roller coasters, pirate ships, and spinning rides. Sports facilities include golf courses and athletic challenges.
Kids Paradise:
This three-story indoor facility provides all-weather entertainment with mazes, interactive exhibits, role-playing areas, and activity stations. The climate-controlled space offers refuge during bad weather or extreme heat.
Dinosaur Forest:
Opened in 2024, this experiential area features interactive displays, fossil examination stations, and life-sized dinosaur replicas.
Additional Entertainment:
Escape rooms and puzzle-solving games offer cerebral challenges requiring teamwork and logic to complete within time limits.
Camping
Facilities:
The integrated camping complex allows multi-day stays with designated zones for tents and recreational vehicles. Expansive lawn areas provide outdoor space while maintaining access to park amenities.
Amenities:
Barbecue facilities enable outdoor meal preparation with ocean views. The combination of camping infrastructure and theme park access supports extended visits across multiple days, letting families alternate between attractions and relaxation in the coastal setting.
Location Benefits:
The park sits near Awara Onsen hot spring resort area, allowing visitors to combine theme park activities with traditional Japanese bathing experiences.
