Planet Aqua Port – UNDER WATER SPACE is an immersive aquarium experience at Hirakata Park, one of Kansai’s historic amusement parks. Founded in 1912 and celebrating its 112th anniversary in 2024, Hirakata Park is Japan’s oldest continuously operating amusement park.
The installation offers visitors a journey through an underwater universe, with ten distinct zones that combine live aquatic life with light, sound, visuals, and scent to create a fully immersive adventure.
Visitors embark on the experience as “passengers” of a space-bound aquarium, traveling from departure to return while exploring themed areas, including the futuristic Space Ship Lab, the whimsical Space Mermaid zone, the deep-sea Deep Submarine, and the glowing Underwater Space Luminous forest. Other highlights include the Galaxy Gallery, a photogenic zone with message cards for wishes, and Aqua Mart, selling exclusive souvenirs.

Created under the vision of aquarium creator Gakyo Miyazawa, UWS ENTERTAINMENT’s representative, the exhibition blends delicate and imaginative design with innovative displays, earning numerous awards including the Japan Aquarium Fair Display Contest Minister of Agriculture Award. Miyazawa’s work spans aquariums, terrariums, biotopes, and interdisciplinary collaborations with artists across music and pottery, captivating audiences with elegant, immersive installations.
