Echizen Ono Hina Festival
春を彩る越前おおのひな祭り
A Doll's Day celebration features hina doll displays at two venues, including a 20-step arrangement at a historic National Cultural Property and character dolls.

Hinamatsuri (Doll's Day) is a Japanese holiday celebrated on March 3rd each year. It is a religious Shinto holiday where ornamental dolls, known as hina-ningyō, are displayed on platforms covered with red carpet-material. These dolls represent the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress from the Heian period. The Echizen Ono Hina Festival is being held at two locations: Heisei Onoya Heizo and road station Echizen Ono Arashima no Sato. The Heisei Onoya Heizo venue, built in the mid-Showa period, has been designated as a National Tangible Cultural Property due to its robust structural techniques, as demonstrated after the Fukui earthquake. The hina doll exhibition at this venue features a 20 step structure lined with dolls. The Echizen Ono Arashima no Sato venue showcases various types of hina dolls, including historical dolls from the Edo period and modern character dolls. This venue also features special products from Ono City and Fukui Prefecture, as well as delicious gourmet food.
