Shiozawa Seppu Festival
しおざわ雪譜まつり- Shiozawa StationJōetsu Line
The Shiozawa Seppu Festival, held in Shiozawa, Minacrfatmiuonuma, Niigata Prefecture, celebrates the legacy of Edo-period scholar Bokushi Suzuki. His work Hokuetsu Seppu documented the traditions, winter lifestyle, and textile culture of the snow-rich Shiozawa region.
The festival, set against a winter landscape, features cultural displays and rituals, including the 108-lantern grand Goma fire ceremony performed by local mountain ascetics. Visitors can experience the area’s history, crafts, and seasonal traditions while enjoying the festival’s unique snowy atmosphere.
