More about this place

The Building Light-Up is a special night opening of the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, held each autumn in Koganei Park in western Tokyo. For two evenings the museum stays open after dark, and the historic buildings reconstructed on its grounds are lit inside and out, so that the place looks quite different from the daytime.

Lamps glow inside the old houses and shops, and a candle night fills part of the grounds with candlelight. The light is kept soft and low, and the paths between the buildings are very dark.

In 2025 the event was held in late November, as the trees were turning, under the name Autumn Foliage and Building Light-Up. In 2026 it falls in early November, and the autumn leaves are no longer part of its name.
