Ono City in Fukui Prefecture, recognised for having one of Japan’s most beautiful starry skies, will host the Starry Lantern Night on March 7. The event takes place at the Rokuroshi Plateau, offering a unique opportunity to enjoy the night sky in a protected starry area.
Participants will release LED sky lanterns into the night sky, creating a magical scene against the backdrop of countless stars. The event also features candle and LED illuminations around the venue, as well as food and drinks available from the Milk Kobo Oku-Echizen and kitchen cars.
The schedule includes stargazing and constellation explanations, a fireworks display, and the sky lantern launch. Tickets, priced at 6,500 yen, include one LED lantern and allow entry for up to four people per ticket (children under elementary school age are free). Due to weather sensitivity, the lantern launch may be postponed or canceled in the event of wind or rain.
Advance ticket purchase is required, with tickets available through TicketPay and Milk Kobo Oku-Echizen. Each ticket guarantees a lantern and access for the group, making it a memorable way to experience the beauty of Fukui’s starry skies.
