To mark six decades of Ultraman, a major commemorative exhibition will be held at Space LABO. ULTRAMAN EXHIBITION – Ultraman Series 60th Anniversary Exhibition is the centrepiece of Tsuburaya Productions' year-long anniversary project. The show traces the franchise's evolution across more than 50 productions, dozens of heroes, and an entire menagerie of kaiju.

The exhibition is structured as a chronological journey through the series, broken into themed zones:

Ultra Q – The Eve of the Hero's Birth. The story begins before Ultraman himself. The franchise's first installment, the 1966 monochrome series Ultra Q, centred on mysterious creatures rather than a costumed defender. This opening section recreates that monochrome world and sets the stage for everything that followed.

The Showa Era (Trail I). Tsuburaya's first colour production, Ultraman, introduced both the silver hero and the Science Patrol defense team. This zone covers the original Ultraman through Ultraman 80 — eight television series in total — plus three overseas co-productions that expanded the franchise beyond Japan.

The Heisei Era (Trail II). From Ultraman Tiga to Ultraman Mebius, the seven Heisei-era series reinvented the formula with new worlds, darker tones, and more complex hero archetypes. A large screen presents famous team-up scenes from across these shows.

New Generation (Trail III). Covering everything from Ultraman Zero up to the newest TV entry, Ultraman Omega, this section showcases the modern era of the franchise. Each hero's debut moment is featured on a large screen montage.

with U. The finale gathers heroes from across all six decades into a single immersive space, accompanied by a special retrospective video. Billed as the exhibition's biggest highlight.

The whole experience is built around dioramas, photo spots, and immersive 3D video installations designed to pull visitors directly into the world of the series. Additional features will be announced closer to the opening.

Every ticket comes with a randomly distributed original clear card, drawn from a pool of 35 designs. The lineup rotates between the first and second halves of the exhibition, so collectors visiting twice will see a different selection.

For dedicated fans, a ¥5,000 merchandise ticket is also available. It bundles admission with an exclusive set of 19 clear cards (different from the bonus designs) and a collection binder. This option is sold at the adult-admission level only.

Note that admission to Space LABO's permanent exhibits and planetarium is separate.

At Hey Japan!, we strive to keep the events listed on our website as current as possible. However, event organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or modify admission requirements without prior notice. Check official websites before attending any event.
