How to use it

The pass runs for 5 consecutive days from the start date you choose, and only for travel between 2026/04/15 and 2026/11/10.

For a reserved seat on a JR train, get a reserved seat ticket before you board; the pass covers up to four. You can do this at the ticket offices and ticket machines of major JR Central and JR West stations on the route.

On the Alpine Route, show the pass at the counter in Tateyama or Ogizawa to get a boarding pass for the transport between the two. At busy times you may not get the departure you want.

Before you buy

The pass is for visitors with a non-Japanese passport and a Temporary Visitor stamp or sticker, which you show when the pass is issued. If you use the automated gates at the airport, ask an officer for the stamp. Only the person named on the pass can use it.

You can buy it in three ways. Online, JR-WEST ONLINE TRAIN RESERVATION takes bookings from one month before your start date, and you collect the pass at a JR Central ticket office. Travel agents outside Japan sell an exchange order, which you exchange in Japan. In Japan, JR Central ticket offices sell it, among them Tokyo, Shin-Yokohama, Nagoya, Takayama, Kyoto and Shin-Osaka, as does the Central Japan Travel Center at Chubu Centrair Airport. The JR West ticket offices in Toyama, Kanazawa and Osaka don't sell or exchange it.

Overseas sales run from 2026/02/01, and online and in-Japan sales from 2026/03/15, all until 2026/11/06.

Refunds carry a handling fee, and delays or cancellations don't earn a refund or extra days. If a suspension on the Alpine Route makes you cancel your trip, the JR Central counter that issued the pass refunds it without fees. A lost pass is not replaced.
