Aya Castle, located in the city of Miyazaki, was constructed between 1331 and 1334. It served as the residence for various feudal clans throughout its history. However, in 1615, due to a shogunate edict that limited each domain to one castle, the castle was destroyed by its owner. In 1985, a replica of the castle keep, also known as a tenshu, was rebuilt using wood. The replica was based on depictions of other castles from the same era and serves as a museum, displaying artifacts and information pertaining to the castle's history.
