The 1-day pass is valid for one day; start using it after 3:00 on the day of use. The 24-hour pass runs for 24 hours from the time you choose to start it.
With a digital ticket, scan the QR code at a QR-enabled automatic ticket gate. For the coupons, scan the QR code on the front of the pass to see where they apply, then show the pass there. Your name is not printed on the pass, but only one person can use it.
Before you buy
Keihan sells it as one of its passes for visitors to Japan, all year. The digital tickets are sold on Keihan's official site, trip.KANSAI, and the 24-hour pass comes only as a digital ticket. There are no refunds.
Keihan also sells versions of the pass for one day with extras: with Osaka Metro and Osaka City Bus (¥2,160), with the Eizan Railway to Kurama and Kibune (¥2,100), and with admission to Hirakata Park (¥2,200, children ¥1,250). The Kyoto Sightseeing Pass covers the Kyoto end only, from Demachiyanagi to Iwashimizu-hachimangu, for ¥1,100 (1 day) or ¥1,300 (24 hours).
