The Hassaku Festival is an autumn festival held at Yamashiro Onsen and Hatori Shrine, featuring a parade of a large lion performed by artists throughout the town. The festival also includes the Urayasu Dance, performed at the shrine as an expression of gratitude for a good harvest, as well as a special prayer for peace. The event takes its name from hassaku, which refers to the traditional first day of the eighth lunar month, a time historically associated with harvest celebrations.
