Washu Fes is a seasonal tasting festival held in Tokyo and Osaka, celebrating Japanese sake, food, and culture. Washu (和酒) refers to alcoholic beverages produced in Japan’s unique climate and culture - traditional yet innovative drinks that connect people. The event will be held at the Atrium Plaza on the 2nd floor of Osaka Bay Tower. This time’s theme is: "Find the perfect sake for the New Year! Enjoy akiagari, warm sake, and premium sake!" Akiagari means “sake that is at its best in autumn”.

With the purchase of a Tasting Pass, visitors can freely sample from more than 120 varieties of sake, umeshu, liqueurs, and shochu presented by 26 carefully selected breweries from across Japan. Participating breweries include award-winning names and already known crowd favourites. Some of the featured sake will also be available for purchase on-site.

Alongside sake, the food booths will serve seasonal dishes, local specialties, and menu items from popular restaurants carefully selected to pair with Japanese sake. The main stage will host live performances both days.

The event will once again feature the Washu Fes Awards, where attendees vote for their favourite sake across categories such as:

  • Sake

  • Other Washu

  • Autumn Sake

  • Kanzake (warmed sake)

  • Beginner-friendly

New categories this year include “Sales” (based on on-site purchase results) and “Pairing” (based on SNS posts).
