Jozankei's 40-year-old spring tradition celebrates through approximately 400 carp streamers suspended above the hot spring town, repurposed from donated family heirlooms.

The Jozankei Onsen Mountain Stream Koinobori is a long-running spring event in Jozankei, Sapporo, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026. Held from April through mid-May, the event features approximately 400 carp streamers (koinobori) displayed above the hot spring town, creating a seasonal spectacle against the surrounding mountain landscape. The koinobori used in the event are donated by households across Hokkaido, repurposing cherished but unused streamers to continue their display in a public setting.
In mid-May, as the koinobori season draws to a close, visitors can also experience spring foliage (haru-momiji).
