“Osaka Art Fireworks” is one of the Kansai region's most distinctive fireworks displays. The display belongs to the "Geijutsu Hanabi" (Art Fireworks) series, a format that synchronises traditional Japanese fireworks with music. Rather than a conventional fireworks show, each programme is built around artistic shells produced by leading Japanese pyrotechnicians and choreographed to align with the rhythm, melody and mood of the accompanying soundtrack. The fireworks are controlled to within a thirtieth of a second, factoring in airborne duration and afterglow, and the staging runs continuously for roughly 50 minutes. For 2026, the fireworks choreography is credited to Ryo Oya, with staging by the Osaka Art Fireworks DreamProject, a team drawn from top pyrotechnic companies across Japan.
The setting is a notable part of the event's appeal. Marble Beach offers an unobstructed view across Osaka Bay, and the sunset visible from the shore has been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Sunsets.
The event is produced by GREAT SKY ART (also operating as the HANABI Collective), which represented Japan at the Montreal International Fireworks Competition in 2025 and received the Excellence Award in the Technology category at the International Illumination Award 2025.
