Spice and Wolf 20th Anniversary Exhibition – Tokyo

Twenty years ago, a light novel about a travelling medieval merchant and a centuries-old wolf harvest-deity quietly appeared and went on to win readers across the world. Spice and Wolf marks its 20th anniversary in 2026 – counted from Isuna Hasekura's first novel in 2006 – and the flagship of its commemorative exhibition opens in Tokyo.

The Tokyo show is the bigger of the two, spread across a 500-square-metre hall at Tokyo Fuji University that the organisers call the largest exhibition space in the franchise's history. It gathers the most illustrations the series has ever put on show, plus behind-the-scenes setting materials and a newly created Q&A panel with author Isuna Hasekura and illustrator Jyuu Ayakura. There's a life-sized photo set to pose within, and a daily lottery for a signed reproduction print.

Fittingly for a series that turns on the passing seasons, the anniversary artwork is split across the two cities: Tokyo unveils new illustrations for spring and summer, with autumn and winter waiting in Osaka. A signing session with the creators is planned during the Tokyo dates.

The whole event runs under J-Culture Exchange 2026, an initiative connecting Japanese pop culture with fans abroad and the next generation at home.

Admission: weekday tickets are sold at the venue on the day, while weekend and holiday tickets are available only in advance via Lawson Ticket.
