Yokohama Urban Sports Festival '26

The Yokohama Urban Sports Festival '26 (YUSF) is one of Japan's largest free urban sports events. Eight urban sports feature this year: skateboarding, breaking, BMX flatland, double dutch, parkour, parkour tag, 3x3 basketball, and freestyle football. Athletes competing at the domestic and international level are expected across all of them. A highlight of the breaking programme is the Japan Open 2026, hosted by the Japan Dance Sport Federation, which brings top B-Boys and B-Girls from across the country together for high-level battles.

The line-up leans on street culture at every turn. YUSF's skateboarding uses a "street" format, with courses built around stairs and rails to mirror an urban environment – a discipline where Japanese skaters have been making waves at the very top of the sport. BMX flatland, sometimes described as dancing on a bicycle, showcases riders with international titles to their name, while double dutch and freestyle football deliver fast, acrobatic battles. Parkour tag, an accessible spin on tag that borrows parkour moves, sits alongside these as something anyone can enjoy watching or trying.

Beyond the competitions, there are hands-on taster sessions for all ages, a street culture market with apparel and experience booths, and a co-located American food festival, the All American Food Festival '26, with food trucks serving up the kind of American fare that many of these sports grew out of. Set against the Red Brick Warehouse and the sea breeze of Yokohama's waterfront, it makes for an easy autumn day out for families and friends alike.
