Kōfuku-ji

Kōfuku-ji is a Buddhist temple located in Nara, Japan. It was founded in the 8th century and served as the main temple of the Fujiwara family, one of the most powerful families during the Nara period. The temple was also one of the Seven Great Temples in Nara, and one of the most important Buddhist centers in Japan. Today, only a few buildings remain, including the five-story pagoda, which is considered to be one of the oldest wooden buildings in the world. The temple grounds also feature several other important structures, including the East Golden Hall, the West Golden Hall, and the Eastern Temple. Kōfuku-ji is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is a popular tourist destination for those interested in Buddhism and Japanese history.
