The Shimane Art Museum, located on the shore of Shinjiko Lake, is known for its harmonious relationship with water. With its full glass wall on the west side and rooftop observation terrace, it offers stunning views of the Shinjiko Lake sunset, recognized as one of the "Japan Sunset Best 100". The museum's collection of 7,422 works spans various art forms, including Western and Japanese paintings, photography, calligraphy, Shimane crafts, indoor and outdoor sculptures, and more.

The museum's open hours are altered from March to September, with a schedule of 10:00 to 30 minutes after sunset.
