UNDERTALE MUSEUM Osaka

After it closes in Tokyo, the UNDERTALE exhibition moves to the ATC Gallery on the waterfront at Nanko in Osaka, and runs there through the spring holidays.

The game it is built on was made by Toby Fox and came out in 2015. A child falls into a world beneath the earth and sets out to return home through it, meeting monsters on the way; whether any of them dies is left to the player, and the game can be played through without killing anything. It has kept a following around the world since.

This is the first exhibition anywhere on that scale to be given over to the game. Toby Fox supervised it, and his own account of his part in it is that he made a number of foolish suggestions, among them donating dog hair to be exhibited. The key image was drawn by Temmie Chang, one of the game's artists. The Japanese localisation studio 8-4 and the merchandise maker Fangamer are both named as helping.

What it costs to get in at this venue, and the hours it will keep, are still to be published.
