The Yokohama Port Museum provides an opportunity to acquaint oneself with the 160-year history of the Yokohama port, as well as Japan’s early relations with the United States of America and other Western countries via the sea. The theme of the exhibitions is "Port of Yokohama in History and Life”, which also includes general information about the history of the Japanese fleet and shipbuilding industry. The museum features interactive exhibitions and playful experience simulations such as "crane simulation" and "navigation of a ship”. Additionally, the museum hosts special exhibitions.
