Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura is a cultural theme park located in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture. The park recreates an Edo-period townscape and covers a large area designed to resemble streets and buildings from Japan’s Edo era (1603–1868). Visitors can explore the park as spectators or rent costumes representing various Edo-period social classes and professions, such sas samurai, townspeople, or courtesans. The park staff also dress as Edo residents, creating a realistic atmosphere.

Experiences and Attractions

The park offers a wide variety of hands-on experiences. Children can try roles like ninja, child samurai, or detective, while adults can join samurai training to practice sword techniques and etiquette. Ninja-themed attractions include obstacle courses, mazes, and shuriken training, while other activities include senbei grilling, Yakatabune boat rides, and much more.

Multiple museums and recreated buildings provide insight into Edo craftsmanship, daily life, and technology, including the Edo Lifestyle and Culture Museum, Modern Edo-Tech Museum, Edo Firefighting Museum, and Samurai Warehouse, among others.

Live performances are held throughout the day, including ninja action shows, theater plays such as Daijin Asobi featuring Oiran, and the elegant Oiran Dōchū parade. Seasonal shows, street performances, and parades further enrich the experience — and there’s more to discover around every corner.

Restaurants and food stalls serve traditional Japanese cuisine and sweets, and shops sell Edo-themed souvenirs. Costume rentals for all ages let visitors immerse themselves fully in the Edo world.

Some experiences have age restrictions or require an extra fee. Operating days and closures may vary, so check the official website before visiting.
