The Unicorn Gundam statue was a life-size figure of the Unicorn Gundam, the mobile suit from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam UC. It stood on the Festival Plaza on the second floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba from its completion on 24 September 2017 until its display ended on 31 August 2026, after almost nine years. A final ceremony was held on 29 August 2026.
The shows
Four times a day the statue changed from its Unicorn Mode into its Destroy Mode. In the evening it was part of a programme of short films shown on the Wall-G screen, among them a special film made for the statue's last ten days.
Mobile Suit Gundam UC
The anime, made by Sunrise from 2010, adapts the novel by Fukui Harutoshi and is set in the Universal Century timeline of the original Mobile Suit Gundam, three years after Char's Counterattack. Its hero, Banagher Links, pilots the white Unicorn Gundam. The mechanical design is by Katoki Hajime.
